GIANT MONSTER PLAYSET UNLEASHED ONLINE & DVD!

In September 2010 I decided to take an idea I'd scribbled in my journal a few years earlier and turn it into a film. By the next September, with a little hard work and a lot of help from very gracious (and talented) friends and family members, the film was a reality. Two years and a hand full of film festivals later, GIANT MONSTER PLAYSET is finally online and on DVD.

Watch it right now:

You can also screen the film on YouTube.

The DVD features the film, a director's commentary (me rambling for 11 minutes . . .how could anyone resist this?), visual effects reel, trailers, production galleries, and the full length official soundtrack album MONSTER SUIT.

DVD Available now at CreateSpace and Amazon.

Own the official powerpop soundtrack: Monster Suit

More on the film:
After receiving a mysterious package, a young boy innocently plays with it’s toy monster contents, unknowingly unleashing a gigantic beast bent on destroying his own small town. Shot in Franklin Tennessee on a micro budget of $600, Giant Monster Playset was an official selection at several festivals including the Nashville Film Festival, Comic-Con International (San Diego), and The Science Fiction+Fantasy Short Film Festival (Seattle). It also screens daily at the EMP Museum in Seattle, WA on the largest indoor LED screen in the world. Written & Directed by Greg Pope

GMPS Screening at Seattle's EMP Museum "Sky Church"…Daily!

The EMP Museum in Seattle is a pretty amazing place. I and a few other filmmakers were taken on a tour by museum curator Brooks Peck back in January when Giant Monster Playset screened at the Science Fiction + Fantasy Film Festival (a museum sponsored event).

Just one of the incredible sights (& sounds) there is a thing called the Sky Church….a huge room housing the largest indoor LED screen in the world, powered by an 85,000 watt JBL sound system. Honestly my first thought was "my kids would love to play Xbox on that" (and the Museum has that covered- they host video game nights there).

So I was not a little blown away when I received an email from the program manager asking if they could make Giant Monster Playset part of the daily content that screens at Sky Church.

So beginning today if you happen to be in the Seattle area you can see GMPS bigger and louder than ever at the EMP Museum.

Oh and you can see a whole slew of much cooler stuff like:

The "Can't Look Away" Horror film exhibit (original pages from Bram Stoker's Dracula, Jack Nicholson's ax from The Shining, the original H.R. Giger Alien from the Ridley Scott film, and one of my favorites…that terrifying flying silver knife-ball from Phantasm)

The Icons of Science Fiction (Captain Kirk's command chair, Darth Vader's light saber, Robbie the Robot…the list goes on.)

HUGE THANKS to everyone at the EMP Museum for this honor!
Stay Tuned…getting set to release GMPS online and on DVD this summer!

GMPS at Science Fiction + Fantast Short Film Fest

EMP Museum and the Seattle International Film Festival will present the eight annual Science Fiction and Fantasy Short Film Festival on January 19th, 2013. The festival selects 21 films from around the globe and I'm thrilled to announce that Giant Monster Playset is one of them! The films will be shown at the Cinerama Theatre on Seattle's largest screen, 30 feet by 90 feet.

Giant Monster Playset will make it's Pacific Northwest Premiere at the first screening session at 4pm. A complete list of films, ticket info and schedule right here.

I'll be attending the festival and I'm truly looking forward to it. Also looking forward to seeing Jimi Hendrix's Westerner hat and the axe used by Jack Nicholson in The Shining at EMP Museum.

Below is the official trailer for the festival which features some truly amazing films (two shots from GMPS are also featured here):
